Paris and Riyadh name both halves. After Macron met Mohammed bin Salman at the Élysée, France and Saudi Arabia called for the disarmament of all armed groups and a complete Israeli withdrawal, under Resolution 1701 (L’Orient Today).
Early September, still nobody’s date. The same statement puts the eighth indirect round in Rome early next month. Neither delegation has confirmed one, and the State Department says only that the political track reconvenes then.
Three sectors, one hill. Israeli concentrations run east at the Ali al-Taher heights, central through the gateway towns toward Bint Jbeil and coastal at Majdal Zoun — a prelude to an operation, security sources tell Naharnet.
Israel faults the army it asked to certify. An Israeli military source says the Lebanese army hasn’t entered private property, that its searches are partial, and that Hezbollah keeps using force inside the security zone (Naharnet).
The army’s condition. Beirut wants any international verification body technically independent but operating alongside the Lebanese army and under its authority, al-Binaa reports — escort, not oversight (Naharnet).
A bloc says stop. Hezbollah MP Ali Fayyad calls the negotiating path a dead end and asks the government to consider suspending talks and declaring the framework agreement worthless (Naharnet).
